The Canadian Academy of Engineering is an independent and self-governing body that works closely with other senior Canadian and international academies. The Academy is one of the founding members of the Council of Canadian Academies and is a member of the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences.
The former executive chair and principal shareholder of a major Canadian engineering firm, Cody made history in 2018 with a $15 million gift to Concordia’s Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. The faculty was renamed the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science (GCS), becoming the first engineering faculty in Canada named after a woman.
Her gift is the largest, to date, in support of the Campaign for Concordia: Next-Gen. Now, which launched in 2017.
Cody is an active member the Concordia community and sits on the university’s Board of Governors, Governance Committee, Real Estate Planning Committee and chairs the GCS Industry Advisory Board. She is also on the board of trustees of CAPREIT, one of Canada's largest residential landlords.
