Earlier this year, Concordia and its partners secured a $123-million Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) grant titled Electrifying Society: Towards Resilient Decarbonized Communities. This represents the largest grant in Concordia's history.

With these funds, Concordia and its partners are establishing a world-leading research program designed to apply novel technologies to create innovative energy sources, secure critical infrastructure and deliver affordable, green energy to municipalities and communities across the country.

Now we need your help to find a name for our program. The winning submission will be eligibile* to win a $250 pre-paid Visa card.** Submissions will be accepted until August 20, 2023.

Naming guidelines

Please refer to the following guidelines before submitting a name:

  • Must be one word (it can be an acronym that sounds like a word. I.e. NASA)
  • Must be easily pronounceable in English and French
  • No more than 2-3 syllables
  • Should represent the project's main themes of resilience, electrification, decarbonization and community
  • Maximum three name submissions per person (each submission form allows for three suggestions).

*You must be a current Concordia undergrad or graduate student to be eligible to win the $250 prize.

**We are exploring several avenues to find a name and we reserve the right to select a name from sources other than this competition.
