How do innovations in treatment and intervention developed at Concordia improve patient care? And how has the university’s leadership in preventive health research supported positive lifestyle changes?

These are the sorts of stories that the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is looking to collect and share through their online Celebrating Health Research Storybook.

To mark the country’s 150th anniversary, health researchers and patients are invited to submit 150-word stories that demonstrate how CIHR-funded research is making a difference in society.  Work currently featured on the website runs the gamut from fertility treatments to cancer prevention to bullying.

Justin Powlowski, associate vice-president of strategy and operations in the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Gradute Studies, encourages both CIHR-funded researchers and their clientele to participate in the project.

“Stories about why you pursued a career in health research, and learning more about the health problems you’re tackling or the new scientific knowledge you’re creating, are what the CIHR is looking to tell,” he says. “There is a ton of impactful health research being done at Concordia and this is an important opportunity for us to share our news with Canadians and the world.”

CIHR-funded researchers, or those who have benefited from their work, are invited to submit their 150-word health-related stories via the organization’s website.
