August 21, 2023
|

Important changes are coming to Concordia’s thesis regulations on September 1, 2023, for the Fall 2023 term.

The School of Graduate Studies, following extensive consultation with all faculties, has implemented changes to improve the thesis submission, examination, and decision processes for doctoral thesis defences.

The new regulations, effective September 1, 2023, will impact the following areas, among other things:

  • Doctoral thesis submission

  • Doctoral Examining Committee composition

  • Examining Committee reports

  • Decisions (PhD Defences)

Please take the time to read the detailed changes in the Fall Graduate Calendar.

The new regulations will appear in the Fall Graduate Calendar as of August 1, 2023, and will be effective September 1, 2023.

Students who deposit their initial thesis submission before September 1 will follow the old thesis regulations, even if their oral defence takes place after September 1. Students who deposit their initial thesis submission on or after September 1 will adhere to the new regulations.

These changes apply exclusively to PhD doctoral defence processes. Thesis regulations for master’s students remain unchanged.
