The Relève étoile Awards are being offered by the Fonds de recherche du Québec under the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC), Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT) and Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) to promote careers in research and recognize the exceptional research contributions of Québec student researchers. Three Relève étoile Awards, one per Fonds, will be awarded each month.

Objectives

Recognize the exceptional research contributions of university students (Master's, doctoral), postdoctoral fellows, and members of professional orders who are enrolled in advanced research training programs in any of the areas covered by the three Fonds de recherche du Québec; promote research careers in Québec; and develop strong ties between the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the province’s student researcher community.

Eligibility

  • Master’s and doctoral students
  • Postdoctoral fellows
  • Student researchers whose projects have been released to the public for less than thirteen months at the competition deadline are eligible. The project must be in the form of an article, a book chapter or book presenting research results of a research-creation process, which has been peer-reviewed and published by a scholarly journal. Patents and creative works or performances are also accepted. Oral presentations and posters are not eligible. One application per student per competition. A project may only be submitted once.

Award value

$1,500

The winners of the three Relève étoile awards are announced each month on the Fonds de Recherche du Québec website and social media, accompanied by a photo of each recipient and the title and summary of their project.

Take note that any successful candidate from Concordia University that has also applied for the Stand-Out Graduate Research Award will receive an internal Concordia award valued at $500.
