Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) Competition
The 2024-2025 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship program has formally launched. We are counting on your support in recruiting top candidates who might be successful in the Vanier national competition. Please feel free to share this information with your Faculty members as needed, and kindly forward the email below to your potential Vanier CGS candidates only.
Departments may only recommend one candidate per agency and must preselect their nominees prior to the student application deadline. For departments that may have more than one excellent and ideal candidate, we encourage you to contact us with a strong justification for a second nomination. During the time you will be inviting /recruiting / selecting your nominee(s), please keep in mind that your potential pool of applicants can be students who would be seeking admission for the 2025-2026 academic year; 2024-2025 new admissions; and current doctoral students admitted as of Fall 2023 and onwards.
Institutions may nominate applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First nation, Inuit and/or Métis) without those nominations being counted towards their quota. Therefore should you have any students who meet this criteria, you may nominate more than one candidate.
To further support prospective candidates, the School of Graduate Studies has organized a series of workshops that will take place on August 1st (Information and writing workshop) and August 26th (writing and peer review session). These workshops aim to provide valuable information and guidance on the application process, as well as offer insights into the benefits and opportunities associated with the Vanier Scholarships. These workshops are exclusively invitation-based and not open to all students. Therefore, we kindly request your department's assistance in providing the contact information of your potential candidate, so that a formal invitation can be extended to them. We need this information by next Monday, July 15 to be sent to Graduate awards office.
