To the users and occupants of the SP building,

A planned interruption of the ventilation systems in block A of the SP building is SCHEDULED for Saturday, 2024-11-09 at 06:00 and is expected to last for a maximum of 8 hours. This interruption will affect all rooms of bloc A and especially the labs : fume hoods will not be functional, and lab ventilation will not be working either. Ventilation will be interrupted for most of the announced period, but testing will occur during the later part of it, during which the ventilation might cycle on and off before returning to normal operation. As a result, fume hoods cannot be used until the work is completed at 14:00.

This work is necessary for the replacement of an outdated Siemens control panel that feeds the main exhaust system for that block of the SP building (Project 22-078: Siemens panel replacement).

Building

  • L-SP / Science Complex

General Information

  • The interruption will affect all rooms of block A on all floors (see map below, example of SP1).
  • Access to the building is maintained; labs are closed, and all activities involving hazardous materials are suspended.
  • Any chemicals stored in fume hoods must be removed prior to the interruption and properly stored in closed containers and placed in the appropriate cabinets.
  • The ACF and the freezer room (SP 442.01) are not affected by this interruption.
  • SP Blocks B & C will not be affected by this interruption.

We thank you for your understanding.
