Call for Pay Equity Committee Membership / Appel d'adhésion au Comité d'équité salariale

Concordia's Pay Equity Committee recently published the results of the work of the Pay Equity Committee to date. The committee has made a lot of progress. However, much work still remains to be accomplished before the Dec 31, 2010, deadline.

As it stands, the Pay Equity Committee (PEC) is currently comprised of representatives of the following employee groups:

• Support Staff (CUSSU)
• Professional Staff (CUPEU)
• Non-unionized employees including ACUMAE (management & administrative staff) teaching assistants, research assistants, casual (timesheet) and contractual employees

Together, this team has been working toward completion of pay equity as defined in the Pay Equity Act.

The PEC is currently in an important phase of the Pay Equity project. Unfortunately, one employee representing non-union employees is no longer able to continue as a member of the committee. In accordance with the Pay Equity Act, we must replace this person on the committee.

If you are an employee not represented by a union, and are interested in participating as a member of the PEC, please contact Tchad Lafleur, Director, Compensation, Human Resources, at tchad.lafleur@concordia.ca or at extension 2890, by Tuesday October 26, 2010 no later than 5 p.m.

A meeting will be held with the members of the PEC representing the non-union employees Wednesday October 27, 2010 at noon in the John Molson School of Business building, Room MB 12.101, to appoint a new representative on the committee.

One name has been suggested to the PEC for consideration as a member. If no other names are received PEC will proceed with naming this individual to the committee.

Le comité d’équité salariale a récemment publie les résultats des travaux accompli a ce jour. Ces résultats sont disponibles sur le site d’équité salariale

Le comité a fait des progrès importants, toutefois, beaucoup de travail reste à faire avant la date limite du 31 décembre 2010.

Le comité est constitué de représentants pour les groupes d’employés suivants:

• employés de soutien (SESUC)
• employés professionnels (SEPUC)
• employés non-syndiqués comprenant l'ACUC (Association des cadres de l'Université Concordia), auxiliaires d'enseignement, auxiliaires de recherche, employés occasionnels (feuille de temps) et employés contractuels.

Au moyen d’un effort concerte, le comité s’affère a compléter le projet d’équité salariale tel que prescrit par la loi.

Le Comité entre présentement dans une phase critique du projet. Un représentant des employés non-syndiqués se voit dans l’impossibilité de continuer les travaux avec le comité. Afin de maintenir la légitimité du comité en regard de la loi sur l’équité salariale, un remplaçant doit être assigné.

Une rencontre aura lieu le mercredi 27 octobre 2010 dans l’édifice John Molson School of Business, MB 12. 101,  avec les membres représentant les non-syndiqués toujours actifs au sein du comité afin d’élire un nouveau représentant.

Une candidature a été soumise au comité. Dans l’éventualité ou aucune autre personne ne se porterait volontaire, le comité attitrera le candidat actuel comme le remplaçant des non-syndiqués sortant.
