Dear colleagues,

Earlier this week, Concordia announced that faculty members will be able to access their offices starting July 6. This partial re-opening is for the express purpose of preparing for the fall term only and does not grant access to other areas on campus.

Staff members currently working remotely, including departmental administrators and receptionists, will continue do so until further notice.

Your continued health and safety remain Concordia’s first priorities. Please help maintain a safe campus by adhering to the following protocols.

Gaining access to campus

Before coming to campus, you must complete the Working At Concordia During the COVID-19 Pandemic – Video training and quiz available on Moodle. From there, you will need to fill out the COVID-19 self-evaluation form found on your MyConcordia portal.

The COVID-19 self-evaluation form must be completed by 8 p.m. for you to gain access to campus the next day.

Should you not complete the Moodle training or COVID-19 self-evaluation form, you will not be granted access to campus.

Arriving and departing campus

You must present yourself to the Security desk with your Concordia ID once you arrive on campus. Please consult the return to campus Cspace site for more information on the Security desk location you need to visit upon your arrival.

To avoid lineups, Concordia is encouraging all faculty members to avoid potential peak arrival times and high traffic hours.

The university is also asking that not all faculty members access their offices on July 6, but rather rotate their days throughout the week to reduce crowding. Departments are encouraged to coordinate this with their faculty members.

If your office is located in one of Concordia’s annexes, you must also call Security at extension 3717 to let them know you are leaving campus.

Cleaning and safety protocols

Prior to returning to campus, please read the COVID-19 workplace safety guidelines on Cspace.

If you share an office with other faculty, please ensure you schedule the times you are on campus with them to avoid being in the workspace at the same time.

It is important to note that students cannot access office spaces as this partial re-opening applies to faculty members only. In addition, offices cannot be used for meetings with graduate students or other faculty.

Facilities Management will continue cleaning common spaces on campus. However, you are responsible for cleaning your office, including the door handle when you enter and leave your workspace.

As a reminder, maintain physical distancing by keeping at least two metres or six feet from others. Where this is not possible, wear a face covering.

Return to campus Cspace site

For more information on Concordia’s gradual return to campus, please refer to the dedicated Cspace site, as well as this faculty and staff guide.

We appreciate these are unusual times. It is important that we all contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe work environment by following the above protocols. Thank you for patience during this unprecedented time.

Please keep well, and take care of yourself and your families,

Carolina Willsher
