Going Places
Going Places is a series of short audio pieces and accompanying texts narrating stories of different locations (physical and theoretical spaces). Starting on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, six episodes of 5 to 10 mins will be disseminated via FOFA Gallery's Soundcloud account and archived on the website during Fall 2020.
The selected guests, Nathalie Batraville, Joni Cheung, Anastasia Erickson, Glenn Gear, Quentin VerCetty Lindsay, and Zinnia Naqvi, explore complex ideas around place-making and embodied situatedness.
The past few months of confinement and drastic shifts within the global mobility ecosystem have (for some) aggravated a need for a change of scenery, a thirst for new sensations while leaving behind the anxieties of an uncertain and chaotic world. As international borders are slowly reopening, global travel structure will never be the same with new health and sanitation measures, social distancing, and fewer flights; perhaps we may be shifting from over-tourism to intentional travelling. One thing is sure, imbalances between richer and poorer countries will intensify, and issues around migrations and border violence will increase. Additionally, what are the mobility issues or constraints that we experience daily within our vicinity? With these considerations in mind, Going Places offers a platform wherein meandering around memories and ideas enables a slice of escapism.
