Petites Pièces

Véronique Chagnon Côté

In the painting The Entrance, Côté invites you across the threshold.

In the series Petites Pièces, lines cross the floor and run up the walls, traversing the axes of x, y, and z. They dive into the rooms and follow the intuitive instruction of their surfaces. A path emerges through the projection of layers of maps which adhere to every structure. Picturesque columns have fallen, and they now rub shoulders with fake paper plants. Within the folds of these tidy geometries, the lines reappear in thrifty colours, which leave plenty of room for drawing’s future. They will soon complete their circumambulation around the sketchy blueprints of a delicate maze.
