It's been a while is a series of voicemails packaged as podcast episodes curated by Audrey Bilodeau Fontaine.   Artists and Concordia University alumni Alexandra Bischoff, Maeve Doyle, Ahreum Lee, Celia Perrin Sidarous and Danielle St-Amour talk about their practice, share about what they have been reading and watching, and open up about what sustained them under the current circumstances. The connection between the selected guests is their relationship to Audrey, whom they have met at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, a fews months preceding the pandemic.

This curatorial project explores ideas of connexions and encounters, more specifically, the anxiety revolving around interpersonal communications and the specific procrastination. The current situation of a global pandemic makes the idea of “catching up” harder than usual as such the concept of a voicemail in lieu of a conversation or an artist talk highlight this new social predicament. It is a testament of the cycle you enter when you haven’t seen or talked to someone in a long time and how the longer you wait, the harder it gets to reach out. Exploring how isolation impacts our social lives and the way we will experience art for many years to come, this project attempts to simply reach out, check in and say hello.

It’s been a while was curated by Audrey Bilodeau Fontaine in the context of the alternative pandemic programming at the FOFA Gallery.
