Multi-sensory wayfinding

This conversation was recorded on Wednesday January 27th, 2021.

In conversation:  Artists Anahi Arciniega, flora fauna, and Le Lin, Maya Rae Oppenheimer and Joni Cheung from CICA, FOFA exhibition coordinator, Geneviève Wallen, and FOFA Director, Eunice Bélidor.

Kicking off the series We Are Still Processing 2020, artists Anahi Arciniega, flora fauna, and Le Lin share the inspirations and research that fueled the creation of their piece for the annual undergraduate students’ exhibition. This discussion unraveled the relationships we create with language, literature, and food as methods of mapping the self and family histories. Food is also discussed as a vehicle to examine the yearning for a place or cultural connections, a terrain where care or conciliation gestures are possible and sometimes more effective than words.

About USE

Each year, the annual undergraduate exhibition aims to represent the diverse art practices and research interests occurring within the Faculty of Fine Arts. Collaborative at its core, this interdisciplinary initiative culminates in an exhibition, publication, and performance event, and combines the efforts of many students, staff, and faculty members. Ultimately, the undergraduate student exhibition aims to foster community among students, while encouraging them to work together through different practices and thought processes.
