paper_work.doc is an experimental exhibition curated by María Andreína Escalona De Abreu, FOFA Gallery’s Curator in Residence. It explores the intersections of sustainability, arts administration, and the materiality of labour itself with in-situ artworks, a functioning papermaking studio, demonstrations, and workshops by Eli Bjedov-Stanković, Joé Côté-R, Jason Sikoak, maya rae oppenheimer, Recycla (formerly CP3, Concordia Precious Plastic Project), Geneviève Wallen, and the curator herself. The exhibition also includes contributions from Pierina Corzo-Valero, Céline Bureau, Concordia University Centre for Creative Reuse (CUCCR), and Concordia’s Fibres & Material Practices Department. As the culmination of her curatorial residency at the FOFA Gallery, Escalona De Abreu wishes to delve into the question: “What sustains an exhibition?”
