About the Artist

Mila Figuet is a cultural worker and performance artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. Rooted in a social justice perspective, both of her practices seek to bridge activism and art, while developing strategies to raise awareness of gender-based violence. She holds a BFA in Intermedia (Video, Performance, and Electronic Arts) and is a self-taught archivist. She uses this approach within an archival activism framework to challenge dominant historical narratives by documenting and making visible the stories, experiences, and perspectives that have been under-represented or erased in conventional history. She has collaborated with cultural institutions such as Dazibao, Vidéographe, Eastern Bloc, Artch, and has recently joined the team at La Centrale.
