Black Box Reservation Request
- A maximum of 16 days may be held at one time (two bookings of 8 days or four bookings of 4 days etc.)
- The Faculty and/or Grad Student reserving and using the space is required to meet the Black Box technician, on site, at 10 am on both the start and end dates of the reservation. At both times, a maximum of four hours set-up and strike is provided. There is no technical support provided beyond this.
- NB: The full scope of the technical requirements for your project must be provided no later than six weeks before your start date. Failure to do so may risk access to the space.
- NB: the faculty or graduate student making the booking is responsible for the activities in the Black Box and are expected to be on-site throughout the reservation period.
Beginning January 1, 2025, the following charges will apply to Black Box bookings.
- $900.00 per regular booking
- Will include:
- Maximum 2 weeks
- Maximum 4 hour setup/strike with 1 Technician
- Additional technical support is charged at $44/hr per person - minimum of 4 hours
- Will include:
- Or $400.00 per Zero State booking.
- No technical support is provided.
- These fees will be waived for Fine Arts Graduate Students working directly on their thesis projects.
- An internal financial account must be provided to confirm the reservation and the full amount will be charged 4 weeks prior to the activity’s start date.
- All other Black Box policies and procedures remain.
Please remember:
- It is the requester's responsibility to provide accurate information regarding the technical details and the booking's purpose.
- An autonomous production process is expected and there will be limited technical support provided. It is the Black Box technical coordinator who will assess staffing requirements after reviewing the request. Technical details may need to be modified based on staff or budget availability.
- Any extra or specialized technical requirements or modifications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the booking start date.
Anyone with an upcoming booking will be contacted with further instructions.
- Please refer to the Black Box Procedures document to ensure you are aware of the rules and regulations regarding usage of the space before submitting your request.
- Your verification of your request is considered a confimation that you have read and understand the Black Box Procedures. Before planning to work in the Black Box you should consider several Concordia University Policies such as Working Outside the Hours of Operation, Rights and Responsibilities and the Temporary use of Space.
- The Black Box inventory can be found in the Black Box Procedures document. Any additional equipment is your responsibility.
- No food or drink is allowed in this space.
- Any event must follow Concordia's policies for Hosting Events on Campus
