Career Management Services (CMS)
In addition to job postings, CMS offers JMSB students a wealth of information, professional expertise and vocational databases related to a broad selection of business related careers. Register for special events and workshops to help with job search strategies, interview preparations and more. - Careers in Finance
This site allows you to explore different careers available to you in the field of Finance. For each career path, you will find an overview, along with skill requirements, background reading and links to more resources.
- Career Cruising
A selection of tools to help students plan their future and choose a career. Contains occupation profiles including career advice from those in the field, information on study programs and statistical data. To search for careers in finance, simply login, switch the interface to English, and click on the Careers tab that appears at the top of the page.
To access this resource remotely, you need to be a member of the Grande Bibliotheque (BAnQ). Registration is free for Quebec residents and can be requested online.
- National Occupational Classification
The NOC is the nationally accepted reference on occupations in Canada. It organizes approximately 30,000 job titles into 520 occupational group descriptions. To browse for descriptions, select "index of titles" from the drop down menu, and then "alphabetical" as your search method to get a complete list of occupations.
- Job Futures - Quebec
Get detailed job descriptions on many areas of business and finance. This includes information on job requirements, training, trends, outlook and professional statistics for the province. To find job profiles for other areas/cities in Canada, please visit the Working in Canada site for Finance related occupations.

- Eluta.ca
Eluta's advanced search allows you to look for postings by occupation/industry. You can also search for vacancies by top employers for a given province or at the national level.

- WowJobs
This freely available site gathers job postings from over 6,000 sources Canada wide and includes unique features such as salary search, RSS feeds, email alerts, and resume postings. Please note that the salary search feature is only available on the English version of the site found at this link.
- Informational Interviewing
This tutorial from Quint Careers offers suggestions on how to conduct informational interviews to gain a better understanding of an occupation or industry.

- IBISWorld
Use this database to find Canadian, US and Chinese industry information, trends and outlook. Reports are updated twice a year.
- FP Advisor
Data on all Canadian public companies, as well as a growing list of Canadian private companies. To generate a list of companies, click on the "Corporate Surveys" link within FP Advisor.
- Canadian Business Resource
Profiles of over 6,000 Canadian companies that includes historical and current information. In addition, CBR also has executive and board member profiles as well as their contact information.
- Report on Business: Rankings for financial services companies
Find the top companies for the Banking, Investment Dealers and Life Insurance sectors. Report on Business also has annual rankings of the top 1000 public companies and top 350 private companies.
- Financial Post 500
The annual ranking of Canadian-based companies by revenue. Click any company on the list to get a profile and the latest news about the firm. There is also a help guide available on how to use the FP 500.
- Les Affaires
The annual ranking of Quebec and Canadian-based companies. In addition to the top 500 in Quebec, there are other rankings available including the top ten by sector, the top 300 Quebec SME, the top 100 in Canada and more.

Annual listing of the best companies to work for in Canada.
- CFA Institute and CFA Montreal
A global, non-profit association of investment professionals that awards the CFA and CIPM designations. They also promote ethical standards within the profession and offer a range of educational opportunities online. CFA Montreal the local chapter also sponsors activities and educational opportunities in the area. In addition, members of CFA Montreal have access to job postings that focuses on the local financial community.
- Canadian Association of Financial Institutions in Insurance
This association provides helpful information for those interested in a career in insurance. Be sure to visit their sites of interest page for links to more insurance-related industry sites and journals.
- Canadian Securities Institute
CSI offers training courses that correspond to your career interests and goals in finance. Find information about which course/certification is right for you.
- Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC)
Use this site to find information about CFP certification as well as details on how to establish a career as a financial planner in Canada. To become a financial planner in Quebec, please visit the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF) site for more information.
- Investment Industry Association of Canada (IIAC)
The IIAC is a professional association primarily geared at promoting growth and development of the Canadian investment industry. IIAC provides a job board for postings by province, an industry profile, free publications (including a quarterly securities industry performance) as well as conference and events details.
- Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC)
IIROC is a Canadian self-regulatory organization that oversees all investment dealers and trading activity on debt and equity marketplaces. Find the latest news concerning the market as well as information on continuing education webinars.
- Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA) and PRMIA Montreal
PRMIA's mission is to provide a free and open forum for the promotion of sound risk management standards and practices. They offer risk management training sessions for members and information about obtaining a PRM certification. Consult the local chapter of PRMIA for events and activities in the Montreal area.

They also provide a section for students that explains each financial sector as well as information for specific career paths (e.g. key players; roles and career paths; skills sought; and career case studies).
