  • RILM - Abstracts of Music Literature

    RILM offers a broad international coverage base. It includes music related works from articles, books, bibliographies, dissertations, film & video to concert reviews and recording notes - provided the items are of scholarly interest.

  • RISM - Répertoire International des Sources Musical

    Search among RISM’s vast collection of 700,000 musical sources comprised mostly of historical music manuscripts (the majority which date prior to 1800).The original sources are available from libraries, music archives, and private collections as indicated in the RISM database. These institutions can often be approached for reproductions.

  • Rock's Backpages

    A database of rock music writing from the early 1960s to the present day. Contains articles (reviews, interviews, features) from the music and mainstream press, and audio files of original source interviews.

  • Canadian Music Periodical Index

    This database includes more than 25,000 entries indexed from 475 Canadian music journals, newsletters and magazines from the late nineteenth century to the present day. It focuses on articles and news items covering all aspects of musical activity in Canada. The content remains active until it is transitioned to the new Library and Archives Canada website.

  • Music Periodicals Database

    Indexing and abstracts for several hundred international music periodicals from over 20 countries, plus full text for more than 140 of the indexed journals. Covers the full spectrum of subjects and all aspects of music, including music education, performance, ethnomusicology, musical theatre, theory, popular music forms and composition.

  • Performing Arts Periodicals Database

    A wide range of subjects in the performing arts is covered in IIPA Full Text: dance, film, drama, opera, stagecraft, comedy, pantomime, puppetry, magic and television.

    Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study, including music, and offers information dating as far back as 1975.

    A multidisciplinary (including music) database covering Canadian newspapers, journals, and more.

  • Entertainment Industry Magazine Archive

    "An archival research resource containing the essential primary sources for studying the history of the film and entertainment industries, from the era of vaudeville and silent movies through to 2000. The core US and UK trade magazines covering film, music, broadcasting and theater are all included, together with film fan magazines and music press titles.     ERIC is the world's largest education database. It is an excellent place to look for publications on the educational aspects of music.

  • Eureka.cc

    Offers fulltext access to several Quebec daily newspapers (with a 24-hour delay) and one newspaper from France (with a one-month delay). Good place to look for performance reviews, editorials, et cetera.

    Citations with abstracts to over two million doctoral dissertations and masters theses published since 1861. This database indexes 90% of dissertations and theses published in North America and about 10% of the content represents documents published elsewhere in the world.
