Meet Lina Benchekroun

Hi! I'm Lina, a Management student. I had the chance to go on Winter 25 on exchange to Singapore and this was probably the best thing that happened to me. I love traveling and this experience really took the passion to the next level. I discovered so many cultures and made lifelong relationship from all around the world.

The one thing I wished I would have known before going on exchange is…

That you can get involved in clubs and not just events at NUS even if it's only for a semester. You just need to go ask and they, most of the time, accept that you attend their sessions, like the sport clubs (swimming team, climbing team, running team; NUS really have everything you can think of).

The scariest part of going on exchange was…

To take flights and plan everything alone, knowing that if something went wrong I was truly on my own. I live in Montreal with my sister, so going to Singapore gave me the chance to be more autonomous and take more initiative than I did in Montreal.

I recommend going on exchange because…

it's a once in a lifetime experience. You will never be in your 20's again, sent to study abroad. On one hand you have the chance to discover a new part of the globe for 4 months and the time to create strong friendships with so many people. On the other hand, you have the chance to do class that are specific to the host university or to the country you go to.

The coolest place I visited while on exchange was…

The Gardens By the Bay. The lights at the Supertree in Singapore every night was really something that I now miss. It was such an impressive thing to watch at night. The lights and the music are just unforgettable and is something I don't think I can find somewhere else than in Singapore. I think that it's one of the must see attractions in Singapore.
