Meet Sief Hassine

Hi, my name is Seif and I’m a fourth-year student at Concordia majoring in history and minoring in political science. I’m passionate about football (soccer), discovering new music, and travelling, which is why I decided to go on exchange for a full academic year at Sciences Po - campus de Reims in Reims, France. I enjoyed my time on exchange and would love to share my experience, especially if you plan on going on exchange in France. I speak both English and French.

My favorite part of going on exchange was…

Meeting students from around the world. I was looking forward to travelling at the beginning of my exchange, but I realized over time that the best part of my exchange was meeting people from around the world and making close friendships that hopefully last a lifetime.

Going on exchange challenged me because..

It forced me to learn how to live in a country on my own. I had to obtain a visa, open a new bank account, set up health insurance, learn how to navigate a new public transportation system, and acclimatize to a different school with different methods, among other things.

The most unexpected part about exchange was…

How much I miss my friends from exchange. I went into my exchange thinking I would get attached to France and miss the country. However, by the end of my exchange I actually ended up missing all the friends and the connections I made throughout my exchange.

The one thing I wished I would have known before going on exchange is…

How expensive my exchange would actually be. I knew my exchange would be fairly expensive but I ended up spending waay more than I expected to. Make sure you prepare a budget before going on exchange, and take into account expenses such as rent, groceries, nights out, travel expenses, etc.
