Welcome session (MB 1.210) 

We’ll kick off the day by welcoming you to Concordia as the newest members of our community! Hear from staff at the Student Success Centre about the journey you’re embarking on, along with what to expect during the day ahead.

10 – 10:30 a.m.

Managing your time (MB 1.210)

Discover how to assess the time you have, build a workable schedule, successfully integrate your study time and avoid procrastination.

10:35 – 11:35 a.m.

What is it really like to be a student at Concordia? A panel of current students are here to tell you all about their experience and answer your questions!

Meet a Friend (MB 9th floor)

Looking to make friends as you start your grad school journey? We’ve got you. Meet a friend or two via icebreakers and games.

1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

Lunch & Lounge (MB 9th floor)

Eat lunch while solving a series of puzzles and tricky trivia questions with a team of fellow new students. The winning team wins a prize!  

1:45 – 2:00 p.m.

Get ready to choose your academic sessions to help you feel prepared for graduate studies.

Working in grad school

About to start grad school and need some extra cash to help pay rent, groceries and have some pocket change to enjoy Montreal? You’ll want to attend this session where we’ll discuss the types of job opportunities that exist on and off campus, where and how to find these jobs and the benefits of working while completing your studies. Find a part-time job to give you a mental break from your academic responsibilities and build your professional skillset!

Resources for learning French

Explore the diverse government-sponsored, community and academic resources for learning French in Quebec. Gain insights into the competency framework to enhance your language learning journey. Learn fun ways to practice French in everyday life.

Eating well with little time and money

Two of the most common barriers to healthy eating identified by students are lack of time and lack of money. In this workshop, you will learn what a healthy diet looks like and discover strategies to eat healthfully when you have little time to prepare food or a limited budget for grocery shopping.
