CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY RETIRED FACULTY AND STAFF ENDOWMENT

Your gift honours retirees’ contributions to the university community, while serving the needs of the next generation of Concordia students.

The endowment

The Concordia University Retired Faculty and Staff Scholarships and Awards Endowment is a result of an agreement between the university and the Concordia University Pensioners Association (CUPA) to use the proceeds of the demutualization of the Sun Life Retired Life Insurance policy to fund scholarships at Concordia.

This endowment provides in-course support to graduate and undergraduate students across all faculties, in the name of the retired employees of the university.

“ I realized that working full-time and keeping good academic standing was not feasible. I was in a financial situation where I was obligated to work a full-time position in order to provide my living expenses.

Thanks to this award I was able to focus solely on my studies and improve my grades. I hope that one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”

Why we need your help

CUPA members are committed to continuing our support of Concordia students beyond our working years at the university.

There are many costs associated with being a student – on top of tuition, books and additional learning materials, there is also rent, groceries and transportation. Many students have to juggle their studies with a part-time job. Our hope is to relieve this financial burden, along with the accompanying stress.

Our CUPA scholarships and awards fund needs to grow if we wish to continue or increase our support to students and assist them in accomplishing their academic goals.

While we may no longer be at the university, help continue our commitment by giving generously today.

The Concordia Shuffle

In addition to a small portion of our membership dues, and donations to the endowment, we also raise funds through the Concordia Shuffle, an annual fundraising walkathon benefitting Concordia students.

CUPA joins the Shuffle every year, and our fundraising efforts go towards growing the endowment. Last year, our team raised more than $3,000!

Watch for emails that will tell you how to join our Shuffle 32 team.

Who we are

The Concordia University Pensioners Association (CUPA) was founded in 1987 to promote the welfare of Concordia pensioners, regularly inform our members of pertinent university updates, and provide a channel whereby the expertise of our members might be available to the University, as consultants or volunteers.

CUPA holds two annual meetings and organizes several social events throughout the year, which keep our members informed and connected.
