Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science
In today’s world — increasingly dependent on technology such as smart cities, smartphones and smart cars — the role of engineers and computer scientists has become more crucial than ever.
With seven departments and 50 undergraduate and graduate programs, the Gina Cody School is dedicated to preparing students to create tools for a future world that will be significantly different from our own in many ways.
Emphasizing sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion, the school seeks private support to help students acquire the necessary skills and experience for successful careers and drive innovation for society’s betterment.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Named after the first woman to receive a PhD in building engineering at Concordia, the Gina Cody School aims to become a leading example of equity, diversity and inclusion.
The school has the following objectives:
- Recruit and retain a diverse community of students and faculty
- Support inclusive teaching, learning and research
- Foster equitable, diverse and inclusive spaces on campus
These initiatives are intended to have a meaningful impact, ensuring that all students, regardless of their backgrounds, feel accepted and genuinely welcomed in the fields of engineering and computer science.
Student Initiatives
Student-led initiatives enhance the academic experience for both undergraduate and graduate students.
These initiatives encompass a wide range of activities, from designing and constructing rockets, cars, and concrete toboggans to representing Concordia in hackathons and technical competitions globally.
Through these endeavors, students not only apply what they learn in their classes but also acquire new skills and invaluable real-world experience that prepares them for their future careers.
