CONCORDIA
CONCRETE CANOE
Help us reach the podium at the 2025 Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition!
Our team
The Concordia Concrete Canoe team is made up of a dedicated group of Concordia students who have come together to push the boundaries of what’s possible with concrete. Our team is composed of diverse individuals from across the four faculties, each bringing their unique skills and perspectives to the project.
We design, build, transport, and race a canoe entirely encased in concrete for the annual Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition (CNCCC). This engineering competition attracts around 20 universities every year across Canada, and for the first time in seven years, Concordia competed in Quebec City in May 2024. The competition includes a presentation, technical report, technical display and a race. The canoe must float and remain intact for the duration of the race.
After our revival year, we have grown from a team of 12 to a team of 40 students and have developed a unique family spirit. This hands-on experience is often a defining moment in the educational journey of future engineers, contributing significantly to their academic and professional growth and honing their skills to solving a problem creatively.
The competition provides students like us with an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, fostering innovation, teamwork, and critical thinking skills, as well as offering leadership roles and project management experience. It also offers a platform for networking with industry professionals and peers from other universities.
What your support will accomplish
Donor support will allow us to send 20 Concordia students to the 2025 Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition, being held from May 21 to 24 at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Funding will help cover the cost of airfare and shipment of the canoe.
Our goal at this year's competition is to achieve the award of most improved team. Last year our only goal was to get in the water, which we did! Our canoe did not need any repairs, it floated, arrived to and from Quebec City in one piece, and we completed all the races.
Your support will not only help us get to the competition, but will also provide encouragement and motivation to achieve our goals. You will help provide unparalleled hands-on learning opportunities to driven Concordia students and enable students to gain invaluable skills outside of the classroom.
Help us cross the finish line with pride — please give generously today!
