Student life

Being a part of the Science College means joining a diverse, vibrant and supportive community of highly motivated students who welcome and value different perspectives and are passionate about science.

Life at the College: Diverse. Vibrant. Engaging.

By joining the Science College, you'll be part of a lively, welcoming and inclusive community filled with enthusiastic students who appreciate diverse viewpoints and share a deep passion for science.

It also means you'll find yourself:

  • Immersed in the scientific process by partaking in research projects of your own.
  • Involved in conversations about key scientific issues that we currently face.
  • Exposed to cutting-edge discoveries and innovative ideas through our multidisciplinary approach to learning.
  • Encouraged to lead activities and organize events through the Science College Student Association to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between College members.

Explore our study space

Students at the College have a shared space that's ideal for studying, doing research, working on projects or even having a bite to eat in the kitchen lunch area. It also provides students with an opportunity to socialize, collaborate, swap ideas and get to know the other College members.

Along with being given a desk space in a quiet room where they can focus, students also have access to a variety of resources that include shared computers and printers. There's even a research library in which they'll find textbooks and scientific journals to peruse.

Discover our community outreach programs

The Science College is committed to improving scientific literacy and sharing our knowledge with the community. To that end we always need volunteers to help with our outreach initiatives.

Annual Stewart Hall Science Fair

The Science College has been a regular participant at the Stewart Hall Science Fair for many years now. Held each November at the Pointe-Claire Cultural Centre, it's an opportunity for staff and students to showcase their research at Concordia, and share their knowledge and love of science with the children, youth and parents of the community.

Finding Urban Nature (F.U.N.) summertime program

To help bring science and nature education to underserved children in the community, the Science College – in collaboration with UrbaNature Éducation and Comité Jeunesse N.D.G – offers an exciting day of fun, activity-based programming each week that promotes the value of green spaces to children who attend borough-subsidized daycamps during the summer break.
