Kathy Baig

For her commitment to the engineering profession and beyond
In her nearly 20 years of experience as an engineer and manager, Kathy Baig has become known for her inclusive leadership and strategic vision. As vice-president of positioning at global design company Stantec, she actively contributes to the company’s growth and influence in Quebec. She also serves as principal director of transport operations for Montréal Métropolitain.
Baig holds degrees in chemical engineering from Polytechnique Montréal and in business administration from HEC Montréal. She spent more than a decade as an engineer in the private sector, notably at Aéroports de Montréal, IBM and Pyrogenesis.
Baig is president of Engineers Canada for the 2022-2023 term. The organization represents the country’s 300,000 members and aims to advance engineering through national collaboration. From 2016 to 2022, she served as president of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, which oversees and supports some 65,000 engineers. While in the role she helped restore confidence in the profession and promoted diversity and sustainability.
Baig is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and received an honorary doctorate from the École de technologie supérieure in 2021 for her outstanding contribution to engineering. She serves on the boards of several corporate and charitable organizations, including Nav Canada and Fondaction.
Baig won a Mercury Award from the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec for her leadership and was among Canada’s Top 40 under 40 honourees in 2019.

Kathy Baig, was granted her Doctorate of Science at the spring 2023 ceremony for the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.
