Born in Montreal, Donal P. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Loyola College in 1967.
After graduation, Ryan worked for Expo 67 before travelling to France where he began a career in financial services. He has extensive experience in securities sales, corporate and investment banking and investment management and worked around the world, including in Geneva, Zambia, New York City, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal.
In 2006, Ryan was approached by the Loyal Alumni Association (LAA) to help organize a fundraising golf tournament and he never looked back — eventually becoming director and then president of the association. From 2013 to 2014, in his dual-role as president of the LAA and executive vice-president of the Concordia University Alumni Association, he oversaw the successful merger of the associations.
Ryan lives with his spouse in Montreal and has three children and three grand-children. Retired, he volunteers as a board member for the Vitae Foundation in Sherbrooke and the St. Patrick Development Foundation in Montreal. He also partnered in creating a scholarship and bursary fund for student ski athletes through the Foundation of Greater Montreal.
