Philippe Caignon is a professor of translation in Concordia’s Département d'études françaises, academic director of Concordia’s Center for Teaching and Learning, and director of the Translation Studies master’s program.
An outstanding mentor, Caignon was awarded the 3M National Teaching Fellowship in 2014.
Caignon is known for developing teaching methodologies, as well as for his work in translation and terminology. He supports all kinds of students and strongly believes pedagogy must adapt to the student and not the other way around.
“He has helped at every step of the way, right up to my thesis defense and my upcoming graduation. He made me believe for the first time that perhaps I could teach one day,” says his former student and nominator.
