The challenges of the pandemic have provided an opportunity to re-evaluate approaches to graduate education. As PhD candidates from Concordia’s four faculties, the 2020-21 Public Scholars represent Concordia’s four faculties and are well-positioned to offer insights on how PhD programs can evolve to ensure that their students thrive in a post-pandemic world with careers in research, industry and government.

These areas are:

·       Mental health: Managing isolation inherent in graduate research
·       Teaching & learning: What have we learned from the pandemic? What will we
        retain?
·       Communication: Reaching beyond academic audiences and attaining digital
        fluency
·       Environment & sustainability: Retaining our connection to nature
·       PhD Outcomes: Integrated career development

The Scholars will be joined by Faye Diamantoudi, interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Lucinda Choden, Editor-in-Chief of the Gazette, and Brad Nelson, associate dean of academic programs and development and author of We need an outcomes-based approach to doctoral education.

Participate in the event by registering for the Zoom webinar or watching live on our Facebook.
