Maintaining healthy relationships is essential in every aspect of our lives. Typically, we think about relationships as romantic and sexual, but we also have coworkers, family, community members, friends, and many other relationships. At any point, any relationship can become unhealthy: a partner doesn’t respect consent, a colleague takes too much of your time, or a family member constantly requires too much emotional labour. These boundary violations can be harmful, awkward, and difficult to respond to.

Learning Objectives

  • Explore the attributes of healthy relationships and red flags to watch out for and address
  • Recognize and set boundaries
  • Communicate needs and desires in various relationships
  • Respond effectively when boundaries are crossed
