The SHIFT Learning Community Showcase series occurs every first Tuesday of the month. Get to meet members of the SHIFT Learning Community and learn more about the socially transformative initiatives they are leading!
This fall, learn about the inspiring work of two project teams whose engagements with multi generational struggles and ancestral cultural practices nourish their visions for a just and thriving future for their communities.
The Buckskin Babes Collective creates accessible opportunities for urban Indigenous people to connect with land-based traditions such as moosehide tanning, prioritizing intergenerational relationships and knowledge transmission.
The Kapwa Centre serves and supports the mental health and well-being of Montreal Filipinx Youth and their families, through art, movement and conversations. Through participatory workshops on themes related to the social exclusion and marginalization of their community, they are developing a network of people dedicated to the collective wellbeing of the Filipinx community through solidarity, advocacy, and mutual aid.
Bring your own lunch or come and snack on what we have!
This event is open to all, register here or drop by if you are on campus.
Please note this event is held in person, at the SHIFT space. If, for accessibility reasons, you are not able to join in person but would like to attend the event, please contact emma.harake@concordia.ca and we can work together to see if an alternative solution is possible. A week’s notice will give us the best chance of making something work.
