The SHIFT Lunch and Learn: Learning Community Showcase series occurs on the first Tuesday of each month. Come to meet members of the SHIFT Learning Community and learn about the socially transformative initiatives they are leading!
How can universities effectively nurture and support visionary ideas for social transformation?
At the last Learning Community Showcase of the year, meet two project teams whose roots at Concordia are enabling them to cultivate ambitious impacts across the city. Working towards transforming the waste crisis and the food system respectively, they have leveraged resources, expertise and relationships within the university to spread their impact on campus and beyond.
enuf Canada tackles the waste crisis through facilitating access to compost and community education. After successfully accompanying Concordia in transforming on-campus waste management towards doubling compost, the enuf team's Green Brigade now offers compost services at major events across the city for partners such as the Montreal Jazz Festival and at the Bell Centre.
CultivAction is a cooperative of urban farmers working towards a more sovereign food system. With access to urban growing space on Concordia’s Loyola campus and the Concordia Greenhouse, the cooperative is able to start modelling what an integrated, sustainable urban food production system can look like for local food sovereignty.
Bring your own lunch or come and snack on what we have!
Please note this event is held in person, at the SHIFT space. If, for accessibility reasons, you are not able to join in person but would like to attend the event, please contact emma.harake@concordia.ca and we can work together to see if an alternative solution is possible. A week’s notice will give us the best chance of making something work.
