Affiliate Professor Mary Anne Poutanen Awarded Prix Lionel-Groulx

Affiliate Professor Mary Anne Poutanen is the 2016 winner of the Prix Lionel-Groulx, the most prestigious award offered by the Institut d'histoire de l'Amérique française, for her book Beyond Brutal Passions: Prostitution in Early Nineteenth-Century Montreal (McGill-Queen's University Press, 2015). 

Dr. Poutanen's careful, principled scholarship and her commitment to restoring the agency and the dignity of the women she studies should be a model for us all.
