Studying the past to better understand the present

Concordia's Department of History is a vibrant academic environment that collaborates closely with other disciplines. Engage with the complexities of history to draw meaningful connections between past events and contemporary issues.

Discover the breadth of studying history

Concordia faculty are involved with such subjects as oral history, policy development, documentary production, digital media, and museum curatorship. Training in public history prepares students for work both in and outside the academy, and raises fascinating issues regarding how history is shaped, experienced, and disputed in politics, culture, and everyday life.

Students can secure training relevant for future careers in museums, historic sites, archives, cultural institutions, film and television production, legal institutions, and all levels of government.
