Dr. Max Bergholz Winner of the American Historical Association's Prestigious Herbert Baxter Adams Prize
Dr. Max Bergholz is the 2017 winner of the American Historical Association's Herbert Baxter Adams Prize for his book Violence as a Generative Force: Identity, Nationalism, and Memory in a Balkan Community (Cornell University Press, 2016). This is an incredible achievement for Max and for a book that has already earned him significant international attention and attracted several major awards.
The Adams prize is among the most the prestigious prizes in the field of European history. It was established in 1905 in memory of the first secretary of the Association, Herbert Adams of Johns Hopkins University, who was also one of the Association’s founders. The prize will be formally awarded during a ceremony at the Association’s 132nd Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, January 4-7, 2018. It is a great honour for the Department of History and for Concordia University to have our colleague's important work recognized with such a significant award, and we are very proud indeed.
