The Institute for Research on Migration and Society (IRMS) at Concordia University is excited to welcome Capucine Coustere as our new postdoctoral researcher. Capucine brings much expertise in migration studies, with a focus on the complexities faced by young migrants navigating temporary and permanent residency statuses.
Capucine recently completed her doctoral thesis in sociology at Université Laval, where she examined the trajectories of temporary migrants in Quebec's hospitality sector. Her research employs a qualitative longitudinal perspective and life course approach to explore how the interplay between temporary and permanent migration affects these individuals’ life paths. Funded by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Société et Culture (FRQSC), her thesis defense is scheduled for October 2024.
In addition to her doctoral research, Capucine has contributed to various projects addressing the experiences of temporary migrants in Canada, including francophones outside Quebec and international students. She holds a master's degree in political science from the Institut d'études politiques of Strasbourg, France.
At IRMS, Capucine will continue her research while collaborating with our team and community stakeholders to enhance our understanding of migration dynamics. We look forward to the insights and the contributions she will bring to our ongoing efforts to inform policy and foster inclusive societies.
Please join us in welcoming Capucine to our team!
