In partnership with Astral, a division of Bell Media, and Transgesco, the advertising partner of STM, Montreal’s public transit authority, the Prochaine station contest invites Montreal art students to create an artwork that will transform the Berri-UQAM metro station with a large-scale mural.

The competition is open to all students actively enrolled in an art program at a Montreal university. It offers them the opportunity to showcase their artistic vision to Montreal's commuting public, with the winning mural displayed during the Festival Montréal en Lumières in February 2024. The winning artwork will complement festival activities, revitalizing the station’s atmosphere and bringing art to the forefront of this iconic transit station.

Through this collaboration, participants’ work will be displayed across STM’s digital advertising platforms, giving finalists additional exposure on digital screens throughout the metro.

Theme for 2024-2025: Voyage souterrain (An Underground Voyage)

The theme encourages artists to capture the unique atmosphere of Montreal’s underground metro network. From the architecture and sounds to the diverse crowd and daily interactions, this underground world offers endless inspiration. Students are invited to explore what makes Montreal’s metro special and express their perspective through their art.

Contest Details:
