Graduate Perspectives is a series of blogposts about the John Molson School of Business graduate programs experience from the perspective of current students and alumni.

This week, we present a new video produced by the John Molson MBA Case Competition Committee explaining the difference between the International Case Competition, Case Competition Committee and the Strategies in Action course.

ICC, CCC or SiA - What's Right for Me?

Case competitions are an integral component of the John Molson MBA program. Students often tell us that getting involved in case competitions is the most rewarding part of their MBA experience. Whether developing their preparation, case-cracking and presentation skills, organizing and representing JMSB at internal and external competitions, or making new friends and expanding their networks, case competitions provide participants with an intense and profound opportunity to boost their business awareness and insight.

There is more than one way for students to immerse themselves in case cracking and event organization. The MBA Case Competition Committee (CCC) has produced a video to help explain the differences between the CCC, the International Case Competition (ICC), and the Strategies in Action course, as well as explain the benefits of getting involved and how to do so.

The CCC works hard to facilitate the participation of MBA students – and more recently, GDBA students – in case competitions. Last semester, 21% of the MBA class attended at least one internal CCC activity (including bootcamps, try-outs and internal competitions), while 12% have either attended or have been in training to attend an external competition representing JMSB.

Despite some case competition cancellations due to COVID-19 safety measures, stay tuned to learn more about the successes of MBA students at future internal and external case competitions.
