Changes to important academic dates

Find out about changes to key dates, including the deadline to drop a course and Reading Week.

Last day to drop a course

The final day for academic withdrawal, also known as the DISC deadline, moves to nine weeks after the first week of courses, effective summer 2025.

Reading Week: new start and end dates

Fall term break now starts before Thanksgiving Day

Reading Week always coincides with Thanksgiving Day, a statutory holiday on the second Monday of October. In the past, your professor may have scheduled a mid-term exam on the weekend leading up to Thankgiving Day.

Moving forward, your Reading Week officially starts on Saturday, meaning no exams will take place on the weekend leading up to Thanksgiving Day.

Keep in mind your professor may still schedule a mid-term exam for the Saturday immediately following Reading Week.

Winter term break now ends after President's Day

Reading Week in winter 2026 begins Monday, March 2 and runs through Sunday, March 8. That means your professor may schedule a mid-term exam on the Saturday leading up to Reading Week only.

Always check your mid-term exam schedule before you make any plans for Reading Week.
