Klasa began his career at Concordia as a professor of computer science in June 1975, when both Concordia and his chosen field were just coming into being. During his 41 years of service to the university, he taught thousands of students the core elements of the discipline, and advanced research in language and automata theory, algebraic geometry and pattern recognition.
“The faculty is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Klasa,” says Amir Asif, dean of Engineering and Computer Science.
“His contributions to the university and, in particular, to the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering are immense. He shaped the development of the computer science program through curriculum development, teaching and research.”
Klasa came to work every day ready to share his insights and knowledge with his co-workers and students. His enthusiasm and support will be greatly missed.
