What's next for the globalization of higher learning?
The Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) is coming to Montreal, thanks in part to Concordia.
The city’s five universities, in collaboration with the Inter-American Organization on Higher Education (IOHE), are hosting the four-day event at the Palais des congrès from October 11 to 13.
And until September 15, organizers will be recruiting volunteers for the event.
CAIE brings together decision makers from government, industry, universities and colleges to share best practices and deepen international collaboration in higher education. Collectively, the four previous editions of the event attracted upwards of 4,000 participants from over 50 countries.
Under the umbrella theme of Preparing the Leaders and Innovators of Tomorrow: Research and Higher Education, Bridges to Prosperity Across the Americas, this year’s conference will feature a myriad of speakers.
Among them is Concordia’s own Raymond Paquin, associate professor of management at the John Molson School of Business, and principal of the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability. Paquin will speak, broadly, on the subject of sustainable development and the greening of curriculum.
Andrew Lang, director of Concordia International, says that, in light of Montreal’s 375th anniversary, the city is the perfect host for the 2017 conference.
“Holding the CAIE in Montreal this year — only the second time the event has been in Canada — will allow us to showcase the open, collaborative society that our city has to offer in terms of educational and research opportunities.”
The conference is a partnership between Concordia, UQAM, McGill University, École de technologie supérieure and Université de Montréal, and is organized with the support of EduCanada and the Government of Canada.
