1. Carnival of the strange

Humanorium | 375e anniversaire de Montréal | Jardins Gamelin | October 5 to 15 starting at 10 or 11:30 a.m.

Inspired by the travelling carnivals of the 19th and 20th centuries, Humanorium is a contemporary art event unlike anything else. This huge, nomadic exhibition features the work of 12 visual and multidisciplinary artists, and includes bizarre attractions like a museum of the dead and a grocery cart carousel.

2. Montreal’s transformation

Travel into Montreal’s past with Imaging a metamorphosis, an immersive, multidisciplinary creation that takes viewers on a visual journey though the city’s development. From anonymous carpenters to names in history texts, you’ll be introduced to the many different faces of those who built Montreal.

3. Tour MTL’s trendiest neighbourhood

Promenades sur le Plateau | 375e anniversaire de Montréal | Parc des Joyeux-Vikings | October 8 at 2 and 2:30 p.m.

Explore Montreal’s Plateau, one of the city’s hippest neighbourhoods. On Sunday, October 8, the Plateau-Mont-Royal Historical Society and Mile End Memories will be offering 25 free guided tours of the area, an experience that will highlight its heritage, history and secrets!

4. Moving movies

Vélo Paradiso | 375e anniversaire de Montréal | Locations vary | October 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 starting at 7 p.m.

Vélo Paradiso is bringing award-winning Indigenous short films to the streets. Each lasting 35 minutes, they will be screened in public areas across Montreal using projector bikes. The unique screenings provide an opportunity to celebrate the creativity of Quebec’s Indigenous communities.

5. It’s an extrav-organ-za!

The Canadian International Organ Competition finals | Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal | October 19 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Don’t miss the last eliminatory round of the 2017 Canadian International Organ Competition (CIOC). The world’s finest organists play for an international jury and the public. After a series of musical exhibitions, winners will be crowned and prizes bestowed. Not to mention the whole affair is set to go down in the beautiful Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, a veritable feast for the eyes and ears!
