Sunday, November 5, 2017 is Municipal Election Day. All university activities and services normally scheduled for Sunday will remain available.

Information for students

Since the law does not oblige the university to cancel classes or other activities to allow four consecutive hours of voting, any classes and other academic activities will take place as usual. That being said, in order to assist all students who want to exercise their right to vote, instructors are asked to permit any student whose name is entered on the list of electors to vote during any scheduled academic activity without penalty, if they request to do so.

Information for employees

The election on Sunday may impact some employees. As a result of election legislation, Concordia employees must be provided with four consecutive hours to vote. For employees whose work schedules do not allow for four consecutive hours to vote on Sunday, the university must grant the additional time off.

Polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Therefore, and by way of example, in the case of an employee whose regular Sunday work schedule is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., that employee must be permitted to leave work at 4 p.m.
