Marc Denoncourt and Anne-Marie Croteau win Méritic awards
The Réseau Action TI is a well-respected professional network for Quebec’s information technology (IT) industry.
On November 14, the organization honoured Marc Denoncourt, Concordia’s chief information officer, and Anne-Marie Croteau, dean of the John Molson School of Business (JMSB), with Méritic awards at the 39th edition of the JIQ annual meeting.
Just three awards are handed out annually to recognize IT professionals who have distinguished themselves throughout their career and have played leading roles in the industry.
Denoncourt received the Senior IT Leadership award for his visionary qualities, leadership abilities and contributions to Concordia. Croteau was handed the IT Career award for having distinguished herself in an exceptional manner over the course of her years working in the field.
Both awards honour individuals who have had a significant impact on the organizations with which they have been involved and on the IT sector in general.
Marc Denoncourt: an IT leader
Surprised by this great honour, Denoncourt accepted it with humility.
“This is an individual award, but the successes of our careers are always a reflection of the teams that support us,” he said at the awards ceremony.
“I can take some credit for building the right team, but I also want to recognize the help and accomplishments of my past and present colleagues, particularly at Concordia.”
From faculty and staff to researchers and students, Denoncourt works with the entire Concordia community to improve everyone’s day-to-day functioning. Projects such as consolidating the university’s many websites into what is concordia.ca today or helping to integrate technology into classrooms are always undertaken with the community in mind.
What’s next?
“In reinventing ourselves as a next-generation university, we are working on a digital strategy that will impact us in ways we cannot imagine,” Denoncourt adds.
“This transformation has already begun, as we invest in technologies that support new ways of teaching, learning and researching. Concordia’s mindset is the right one for adapting to the future.”
Anne-Marie Croteau: a distinguished IT career
Croteau responded to the news of her award with gratitude and generosity.
“I share it with my family, as well as with my colleagues and students with whom I have worked over the course of the last 25 years,” she said.
“Regular exchanges between the IT industry and academia allow us to better prepare our students to meet the challenges of our hyper-connected world.”
A professor in Concordia’s Department of Supply Chain and Business Technology Management, Croteau is an expert on IT governance, health-care information systems and strategic management of information technology. She has held many senior administrative positions at JMSB and was associate dean of recruitment and awards at the School of Graduate Studies.
Croteau sits on the boards of Hydro-Québec and the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) and chairs both of their IT steering committees.
In June 2017, she became the first woman to be named dean of JMSB.
