Concordia’s Volt-Age program has named alumna Vaitea Cowan, BComm 15, to its advisory board.

Cowan is the co-founder of Enapter, an electrolyser manufacturer working to make renewable hydrogen affordable worldwide. Under her leadership, the company has delivered more than 5,000 units for energy storage, refuelling and industrial applications, making its technology one of the most widely deployed green hydrogen solutions globally.

“We are excited to welcome a dynamic startup founder to the Volt-Age advisory board,” says Norman Hébert, chair of the board. “Vaitea's tech experience, lab-to-market expertise and ability to unite science and business will create invaluable opportunities for our research community.”

Her achievements have earned international recognition, including a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Energy (2020) and the inaugural Earthshot Prize (2021). She also delivered the TED talk “How green hydrogen could end the fossil fuel era.”

A homecoming with purpose

“I’m excited to contribute my expertise to Volt-Age and help drive Quebec and Canada’s transition to clean energy,” Cowan says. “The John Molson School of Business equipped me with the foundations to start a business in climate, and I’m honoured to give back to my university through this role.”

Volt-Age unites researchers and industry leaders to advance electrification in areas such as energy systems, transportation and smart infrastructure. Its advisory board provides strategic guidance to ensure the program’s impact.

“Vaitea joins an advisory board of distinguished experts committed to accelerating the shift to a low-carbon economy,” says Karim Zaghib, Volt-Age chief executive officer. “She is young, passionate and very accomplished — qualities sure to help Volt-Age reach its full potential. I look forward to working with her.”
