Now’s your chance to nominate Concordia’s next honorary degree recipient
The Honorary Degree and Convocation Committee (HDCC), a joint Board/Senate body, is asking members of the Concordia community to nominate candidates for future honorary degrees.
Nominations will be considered at the committee’s next meeting. Nominees are screened by the HDCC and approved by the Board of Governors upon recommendation of Senate.
Though welcomed throughout the year, to be considered at the committee’s next meeting, nomination forms must be received no later than April 9, 2018.
To be eligible, a nominee must have sufficient stature and recognition to ensure that the awarding of an honorary degree brings credit to Concordia and to the academic community as a whole, and upholds the values that lead to the advancement of learning and to the pursuit of greater knowledge.
Concordia’s most recent honorary degree recipients include renowned explorer and mountaineer Bernard Voyer, Canada’s ambassador to France Isabelle Hudon, and ZL founder and CEO Kon Leong.
For more detailed information regarding the selection criteria, eligibility and exclusions as well as the overall process, please refer to the Guidelines for the Awarding of Honorary Degrees (BD-15).
Once approved, nominations are kept confidential to protect the privacy of all those involved and to avoid disappointment if nominees are not selected. Nominators are also expected to respect this policy.
