Concordia researchers are gearing up to launch an online hub and office that will provide students with easy access to experiential learning opportunities.

Nadia Bhuiyan, vice-provost of Partnerships and Experiential Learning, is leading the project. Her team has created a five-minute survey to better understand undergraduate and graduate student learning needs. The survey runs until Monday, May 21.

Complete it and you could win a $50 Amazon gift card.

“Our goal with the survey is to obtain the information necessary to provide students with real-world learning opportunities that are relevant to their academic studies,” says Andrea Rosenfield, research and teaching assistant and an MA candidate in Educational Studies.

Bhuiyan’s team would like to see more students immerse themselves in new experiences — either in Montreal or further afield — that encourage reflection, the development of new skills, new ways of thinking and problem solving abilities.

“At the root of experiential learning is the desire to build bridges between knowledge acquired in the classroom and its application in real-world settings,” says Doan Nguyen, research assistant and an MA candidate in Educational Studies.

“In addition to hearing directly from Concordia students about their experiential learning needs, we hope to obtain better insight into student knowledge, experiences and values on the topic, so that we can help bridge that gap. Our goal is simple: to better equip students for future success.”

EXTENDED DEADLINE: Students have until May 24 to complete the survey. Read more about Concordia’s strategic direction, Get your Hands Dirty, rooted in pursuing rich experiences outside of the classroom to deepen learning and effect change.
