1.  Celebrate the solstice

The Solstice Festival l Centropolis de Laval l June 16, starting at 4 p.m.

Celebrate the start of summer in true style with the Solstice Festival. Things kick off in the afternoon with live music, food and street entertainment. The real show starts at 8 p.m. when a dazzling light carousal is unveiled — replete with the colours of the season. The Laval Symphony Orchestra are performing during the evening show.

2.  Gaming with a view

Rooftop Arcade | Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology | 1515 Sainte-Catherine W. | June 8 from 8 p.m. till midnight

This is your chance to play video games while hanging out at the top of a skyscraper overlooking downtown Montreal. Organized by FLOP and TAG Research Center, the Rooftop Arcade is a free one-night-only exposition showcasing a brand new line-up of 12 alternative video games made by local developers. The event features two TAG projects: Boss Battle by Joel Jordon and It is as if you were making love by Pippin Barr.

3.  Ode to the Canadian Tuxedo

Canadian Tuxedo l MURAL Festival l Oatbox, 3455 Boulevard Saint-Laurent l June 8-17 l Vernissage on June 8 at 5 p.m.

Who doesn’t love a little jean-on-jean action!? The Canadian Tuxedo — which refers to any combination of denim jacket and jeans — will be appreciated in all its glory during a collective exhibition dedicated to the emblematic ensemble. Don’t miss your chance to see new works created by Canadian artists who are down with the denim.

4.  Science tours

Open Labs | St. Lawrence and Water Science Centre | 400 Place d'Youville | June 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Every day, scientists and technologists across the country are working hard to ensure Canadians enjoy a safe, clean and sustainable environment. As part of National Public Service Week celebrations, the ECCC is opening up its labs to give Canadians a first-hand look at their work! Tours are offered in both English and French.

5.  Fêter la Fête Nationale

Le Grand Spectacle l Fête Nationale l Place des Festivals l June 23, starting at 9 p.m.

Come celebrate Quebec with pride and passion during a giant spectacle in the centre of Montreal! Expect live performances from some of the province’s biggest names in music. This party promises to be as vibrant as the language and culture of Quebec.
