Marc Denoncourt will step down as Concordia’s chief information officer (CIO) and associate vice-president of Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) on April 26. He has accepted a new position at McGill University.

Denoncourt joined Concordia in 2010 after working as executive director of Information Technology (IT) for CBC / Radio Canada. Before that, he spent years leading IT teams in the private sector.

At Concordia, his accomplishments have been numerous. They include:

  • Leading and developing the university’s IT strategic plan and delivering a five-year IT technology roadmap
  • Implementing IT governance, IT service management and project management best practices
  • Modernizing and updating academic and administrative systems, including the Student Information System (SIS), advancement information system and Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema digital transformation initiative
  • Overseeing and improving the university digital experience with the consolidation of more than 200 websites under Concordia.ca and the implementation of a mobile app
  • Leading and overseeing multiple digital campus initiatives, including the implementation of multiyear asset management programs for teaching computer labs, classroom technologies and wireless network infrastructure
  • Initiating and proposing a vision for a next-gen digital university, leading to the creation of the digital strategy initiative
  • Assessing and strengthening the university’s cybersecurity posture

“For all his contributions to our community, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to Marc,” says Roger Côté, Concordia’s vice-president of Services.

Côté also thanked Alex Aragona, director of IITS, for agreeing to assume the role of interim CIO during the search for a permanent replacement.

“Those of you who have worked with Alex know that he is a highly skilled and respected member of our team who is already involved in managing many key IITS projects,” says Côté.
