2. A night (of dance) at the museum
Déambulatoire Dansé | Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal | September 14 at 11 a.m.
This month, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts becomes a stage as harpist Coralie Gauthier and dancer-choreographer Janelle Hacault combine forces. Their unique ambulatory performance will explore the museum’s contemporary art collections through live sound and movement. Dream-like and experimental, this improvised multisensory work is sure to be moving.

3. Spice up your lunch hour
Midis Dansés Bhangra | Esplanade de la Place des Arts | September 10, 11, 17 and 18, 24 and 25 at noon
Power up your lunch hour with a little bhangra, a festive Indian dance originally performed by farmers to celebrate a good harvest. Each Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the month, you can join professional bhangra dancers for free 45-minute workshops, open to everyone no matter your level.

4. Poetry in the park
Dehors est un poème | Festival international de la littérature (FIL) | Meet at Pavillon du Lac-aux-Castors | September 21 at noon
Spend a poetic afternoon at Parc Mont-Royal in the company of poet Bertrand Laverdure. He will head a writing workshop that will task you with taking inspiration from the surrounding greenery and channelling it into words. After a walk up the Escales découvertes, you’ll be able to share the literary fruits of your labour with the group. The outing is part of the larger Festival international de la littérature.
5. Martinique in Montreal
The Creole Village Fair at Martinique Gourmande | La Grande-Place du Complexe Desjardins | September 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A fall must-see, the Creole Village Fair invites you to enjoy the best of Martinique’s cuisine. To mark the occasion, four chefs will be visiting from Martinique to bring the tastes of their island to the heart of Montreal. Also on the menu: a zouk dancing masterclass, tastings of the famous Trois Rivières and Saint James rums and a chance to win a trip to Martinique.
